Genetically designed grapes with elevated levels of vitamin C may be more than wishful thinking, according to researchers at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Adelaide, Australia. Researcher Seth DeBolt tells you about a recently identified enzyme in grapes that helps convert vitamin C into tartaric acid, a key acid in winemaking.
The California Department of Water Resources surveys snow levels each winter through April to help forecast the amount of spring runoff into our reservoirs. Today the snow survey team takes what is considered to be the most important survey in gauging how much water is being held in the Sierra snow pack. They talk to us from the site near Lake Tahoe while they conduct the survey.
